Ecuadorian Chocolate

Arrival in Quito. Situated in a circle of mountainous peaks of the Andes, Quito has one of the most magnificent settings in the world.  

Enjoy a sightseeing tour exploring the most important cultural sites and the Equatorial Line Monument called “Middle of the World”. Afterwards guests enjoy a chocolate tasting and will learn all about the necessary process to make a great chocolate.

Transfer to Mindo, a small subtropical town located on 1250 m above sea level. Join an artisan chocolate tour to learn to know the process of the traditional chocolate production including a chocolate tasting. Visit Mindo’s marvellous butterfly farm exploring an astonishing variety of colourful butterflies.

Transfer to Quito and flight to Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city and industrial and commercial centre of the country.

Excursion to visit the incredible hacienda El Castillo. During the visit, guests will walk in the plantation and will be able to appreciate the entire process from the seeds to the sowing, the plantation, the harvest, the fermentation and the drying of the cocoa crops. After a typical costeño lunch visit to the chocolate factory where the manufacture of the chocolate from the bean till chocolate bar will be explained. At least the taste of this delicious product should not be missed.

2,5 hours city tour through the tropical pacific-metropolis Guayaquil, amongst others guests will see the gothic cathedral, an open-air exhibition of paintings and sculptures, the beautiful “Malecón”, the city’s promenade and the cemetery. Transfer to the airport in Guayaquil on due time and individual homebound flight.
