Day Routing
01 Quito

Arrival to Quito, set in a hollow at the foot of the volcano Pichincha and surrounded by hills and several snowcapped mountains.       

02 Quito

Enjoy a sightseeing tour exploring the colorful history of colonial Quito with the Cathedral and the church of La Compañia. Continue to the middle of the world monument „Mitad del Mundo“.

03 Quito - Otavalo

Transfer to Otovalo passing Lago San Pablo with its great background, the rock massive Taita Imbabura and the snow-capped Cayambe. After arrival at Hacienda Pinsaqui horseback riding tour heading towards the Imbabura volcano to enjoy the breathtaking landscape.

04 Otavalo

Visit of the famous artisanal handicraft market, offering a tremendous variety of designs in ponchos and other mostly woolen clothing items. Transfer to Cotopaxi.

05 Cotopaxi

After a briefing of how to handle the horses, guests will start their ride towards Limpiopungo Lake at the heart of the Cotopaxi National Park with fantastic views of the lake from Rumiñahui Volcano. Box-lunch included. Return through gravel roads within the park.

06 Cotopaxi - Riobamba

Visit of Hacienda Alegria where guests will enjoy a show of the “Chagra”, the local cowboy of the Ecuadorian Andes. Afterwards set off to Riobamba.

07 Riobamba

Guests enjoy today a horseback riding tour in the area of Riobamba.

08 Riobamba - Cuenca

Train ride along the legendary “Devil´s nose”, one of the highlights of a journey through Ecuador. Continue to Cuenca inclusive visit to the most important and well preserved Inca complex in Ingapirca.

09 Cuenca

Guests still breathe the colonial air of Ecuadorian history, while visiting Cuenca on a four hours city tour exploring the mystical “Todos los Santos” ruins and expiring the famous flower market.

10 Cuenca - Vilcabamba

Transfer to Vilcabamba. Afternoon at leisure.

11 Vilcabamba

Start of an amazing two days riding tour to enjoy the incredible view of mountains, spectacular waterfalls and unique silence. After a lunch break do a short hike through the primeval forest to reach a mountain hut for the night. Small barbecue dinner at the campfire with a typical “Canelazo” drink.

12 Vilcabamba

3h hike to explore the primeval forest, the rainforest and the waterfalls “los helechos” which reach an altitude up to 100m. After lunch prepare the horses to take another route back to Vilcabamba with amazing views over the valleys and mountains.

13 Vilcabamba - Quito

Transfer to Loja and flight back to Quito. Remaining day at leisure.

14 Quito

Transfer to the airport and homebound flight.
