Peru, Ecuador - Machu Picchu & the Galapagos Islands

Day Routing
01 Lima

Arrival in Lima and transfer to the hotel.

02 Lima - Cusco

City tour to explore the historical center of Lima with the    archiepiscopal palace, the cathedral and covent. At last guests visit the glorious home of family Aliaga, which was built in 1535 and is one of the oldest houses on the mainland. Flight to Cusco and transfer to hotel Palacio del Inka.

03 Cusco

City tour to visit the most important sights of the Inca empire and colonial era as well as the ruins around Cusco, like the fortress ruine of  Sacsayhuaman. Participation on the shaman ceremony “pago a la pachamama“ (payment to mother earth), one of the oldest and most important Inca rituals.

04 Cusco - Machu Picchu

Full day excursion on Vistadome train to Machu Picchu, the “lost city of the Inca“. Guided visit of the ruin site. Lunch will be served at the restaurant of hotel Sanctuary Lodge. Dinner and overnight at hotel Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo.

05 Machu Picchu - Sacred Valley

Morning at leisure. Optional: second visit of the ruin site on one´s own account. Transfer by Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo and transfer to hotel Tambo del Inka.

06 Sacred Valley - Cusco

Excursion to visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo and the famous Pisac market. At one of the stands guests will enjoy delicious empanadas and a glas of Chicha Morada, a sweet drink of lilac corn. Return to Cusco.

07 Cusco - Lima

Flight to Lima. In the late afternoon visit the modern Pisco-bar Ayahuasca in Barranco. Afterwards walk to the restaurant at Hotel B for an excellent dinner in the colonial-modern atmos-phere of the hotel.

08 Lima - Quito

Flight to Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. Transfer to hotel Gangotena. Welcome dinner at restaurant with spectacular view to Quito. 

09 Quito

City tour of Quito, located 2.850m above sea level. Continue to the equatorial monument „Mitad del Mundo“ („Middle of the earth“). Lunch with overlooking the only inhabited volcanic crater of Ecuador.  

10 Quito - Otavalo

Drive towards Otavalo inclusive visit a plantation of roses. Circuit and lunch at the traditionell hacienda. Continue to Cotocachi, well-know for its high-quality leather goods. Arrival at Hosteria La Mirage, time to relax in the spa area. Dinner at the hosteria.

11 Otavalo - Quito

Transfer to the crater lake of Laguna Cuicocha. Visit the indigene village of Peguche, famous for its musical instrument and art of weaving. Continue to the handicraft market of  Otavalo. Return to Quito. Traditionel dinner in exclusive ambience (Thursday till Saturday inclusive opera).

12 Quito

Excursion to the Cotopaxi national park. Continue to visit a traditional Hacienda including lunch. Guests are invited to help making the desert based on an old, traditional recipe of the family. Return to Quito.

13 Quito - Galapagos Islands

During the next days two full day boat excursions on board the exclusive Pikaia I Yacht with private cabins to the islands of North Seymour and Bartholome and land exploration on Santa Cruz Island are included.

14-16 Galapagos Islands

During the next days several islands of the archipel will be visited. A boutique, bar, lounge and sun deck with jacuzzi will be at guests disposal.

17 Galapagos Islands - Guayaquil

Flight to Guayaquil. Transfer to hotel Hilton Colon. 2,5 hour city tour of Guayaquil, the vibrant biggest city of Ecuador, to visit the most interesting parts of this tropical and bustling metropolis at the pacific coast. Farewell dinner with seafood.

18 Guayaquil

End of the roundtrip, transfer to the airport and homebound flight.
