01 Easter Island

Arrival at the airport of Hanga Roa. Welcome with a tropical flower necklace at hotel Posdada de Mike Rapu.

02 Easter Island

Full day excursion to visit representative examples of not restored platforms in the bay of Hanga Te’e and Akahanga, where supposedly the famous king Hotu Matua was buried. Proceed to Rano Raraku, quarry of almost 900 stone statues, 397 of them still lying or standing at the slopes of the  extinct volcano with crater lake. Ahu Tongariki (restored with 15 Moais) is the most recent and biggest restauration on the island. Drive to the east coast and visit Ahu Te Pito Kura and the “Navel of the World”. Last but not least visit the beach of Anakena with its restored Ahus Nau Nau and Ature Huke. There you will have the opportunity to enjoy the warm Pacific Ocean. Return to the hotel.

03 Easter Island

Ancestral wedding ceremony on Anakena Beach. Today you will berne picked up at your hotel, receiving the bridegroom with a flower lei and the bride with a flower crown. When you arrive at the ceremonian site the bride will be taken to a private place in order to prepare her for the ceremony, the same happens with the bridegroom. They chose their traditional attire and the takona, the ancient art of body painting with natural paints, will be applied. The ceremony begins with a blessing by the master of the cremony, asking for the protection of the gods, giving thanks to the ancestors and nature. The ceremony is finalized with ritual dancing and singing. Once the ceremony is over everyone will be congratulating the couple with a glass of champagne.

04 Easter Island

Today you will visit the extinct volcano Rano Kau with its distinct geological features. Continue to the ceremonial village of Orongo and enjoy the breathtaking view towards the 3 islets Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Motu Kao Kao opposite the coast. Drive down again to Ahu Vinapu and visit the Ana Kai Tangata cave with paintings. In the afternoon drive to the restored Ahu Akivi with 7 Moais, built in the middle of the island. The legend tells us that these statues are representing the 7 explorers who were sent to Rapa Nui by the king Hotu Matua. Proceed to the unrestored Ahu Hanga Poukura. Then visit the topknot-quarry Puna Pau with its red scoria stone, where all the Pukaos were made. Return to the hotel.

05 Easter Island

Visit the ceremonial site of Tahai with 3 Ahus and restored statues, remains of boathouses, a boatramp and other features. Here you can see the only statue with eyes re-inserted. In the nearby museum, you will have an overview over the Geology, Geography and the History of Rapa Nui and its people. At the end of the tour you will pass through the village of Hanga Roa and visit the church and the artisan market. The afternoon is at leisure for outdoor activities (horseback riding, snorkeling, diving …).

Transfer from your hotel to the airport of Hanga Roa.
